he CW network debuted this month with a fall program lineup consisting of surviving shows from the merger of the WB and UPN networks. The CW network marks the first new network to arrive in over 10 years since the original debut of both the WB and UPN. Each network received mild success over the years targeting the young adult demographic but has never been able to compete with the larger networks like CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX.

Last Tuesday, Dr. Sid Gottlieb, Dr. David Curtis and their students were pleasantly surprised when "Gladiator" and "Walk the Line" star Joaquin Phoenix walked into their Film and Literature class. Phoenix told Gottlieb his purpose of sitting in was to study the actions and mannerisms of a college professor to inspire his performance in his upcoming film "Reservation Road".
