Band Together, "Helping Connecticut Families One At A Time," is a concert for Gianna Sarica, a local fifth grader, who suffers from a rare illness.

The proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships of this concert help Gianna's family pay for medical expenses.

The event takes place on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Fairfield Theatre on 70 Sanford Street in Fairfield.

Vernie Taylor, also known as Butch Taylor, is a professor in the Religious Studies Department at Sacred Heart.

Taylor is a published songwriter and has played in many road and local bands. He is also one of the members in Trippyphonics that will be performing during this event.

"I think this concert is a good cause," said Taylor. "This is the third time Band Together has done a benefit concert and the tickets were all sold out. It is a great show. Anyone could attend and it will really be a good time."

The Band Together benefit concert is a great opportunity to listen to music while helping the less fortunate

"I would definitely go to this concert. I love helping others and if going to this concert is helping someone else then I'll be there. It is also nice that it is in the area and it sounds like it will also be a good time," said freshman Leslie Flynn.

This benefit concert is a two-hour variety show with several performances.

The after party of the benefit features sounds from Trippyphonics, which is a 60's classic rock band that is inspired by singers such as Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley.

The performers are Butch Taylor (vocalist and guitar) Wendy Taylor (vocalist and bass), Jeff Batter (vocalist and keyboard) and Scott Lebish (drums).

"I love Jimi Hendrix. I think it will be really cool to see a new classic rock band. I think this sounds like a great concert especially because it is for a good cause," said senior Casey Bertollo.

Band Together has had two prior concerts helping other Connecticut families in need. They have also raised funds for Habitat for Humanity of coastal Fairfield County.

Some of the musicians of Band Together are Tayger MacNeal (drums), Rob Fried (bass), Jerry Vigorito (harmonica), Chris Coogan (vocalist and keyboard) Jen Durkin (vocalist), and Butch Taylor (vocalist and guitar).

Each member of the band has had much experience in the music business and has played in many different types of performances.

"It sounds like a lot of fun. It will be something different. I have never been to a benefit concert before, so I think I will try and get a bunch of friends together and go," said senior Jeremy Siracusa.
